If you hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) status and are ready to become a British citizen there is couple things to consider before you proceed. First know the requirements needed to see if you qualify to apply for citizenship. The following are a few requirements to obtain British citizenship:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Good moral character
- Intentions to continue to live in the UK
- Met the knowledge of English and life in the UK requirements
- Have ILR status
- Physically present in the UK for at least 5 years before date of application
- Spent no more than 450 days outside the UK in the last 5 years
Second, and most importantly you will need to complete Form AN to apply for citizenship.
Third, make sure you are fluent in the English language and knowledgeable of life in the UK.
