- Visitors Visas
- That he has been accepted on a course of study at an education or training provider included on the Register of Education and Training Providers (formerly known as the Department for Education and Skills’ Register of Education and Training Providers);
- The course must not be last more than 6 months;
- There are sufficient funds available to finance the student visitor’s stay (and that of any dependants), his course of study, and his onward or return journey;
- A visa national must hold an entry clearance as a student visitor; non-visa nationals do not require an entry clearance in this category;
- The course of study does not need to meet the requirement that it is a full-time course or that it must consist of a minimum of 15 hours daytime study per week;
- The course of study can begin after 6pm in the evening (e.g. evening classes) or can take place at the weekend;
- There is no requirement for the course of study to lead to a qualification, and
- The student visitor is not intending to work 20 hours per week whilst studying or to undertake a course of study which includes a paid or unpaid work placement or internship component, even if this forms an integral part of the course.

What are Visitors Visas
There are various subcategories of visitors visas, which allow someone to come in to the UK for up to 6 months for a specific purpose. Below we list some of the most common types of visitors visa.
Student Visitors
On 1st September 2007 the United Kingdom amended the Immigration Rules to provide a new category of Student Visitors.
This new category makes provisions for those who wish to come to the United Kingdom as a visitor and undertake a short course of study, which will be completed within 6 months.
This category will benefit the short-term students (i.e. those studying on courses of six months duration or less) who do not intend to take part-time employment paid or unpaid or a work placement as part of the course.

This new category now replaces the old short-term students visa and those now wanting to enter the UK as a short-term student must now meet these new requirements or apply under another student visa category.
