Entertainers

Immigration Direct - Legal Disclaimer

Coming to the United Kingdom as an entertainer.

An entertainer is someone who comes to the United Kingdom to perform as an amateur or professional, like a singer, dancer, comedian, or magician.

Entertainer Visa
You may qualify to come to the UK as an Entertainer, if you have been invited in one of the following categories for no more than 6 months:

  • professional entertainer coming to take part in music competition;
  • Sikh religious entertainer;
  • amateur entertainer seeking entry as an individual performer;
  • amateur entertainer seeking entry as part of a group: for example, a choir or youth orchestra coming for a specific engagement;
  • amateur or professional entertainer taking part in a cultural event sponsored by a government, a recognised international organisation or a major art festival (there is normally a festival list, updated yearly, which ImmigrationDirect can provide by contacting us. If you are coming to perform at an event not on that lists, we can always help you in applying to be added to that list);
  • professional entertainer taking part in a charity concert or show where the organisers are not making a profit and no fee is to be paid to the entertainer;

Business Visitor Visa
Alternatively, if you are an entertainer and you are coming to the UK to promote yourself in the following manner then we would recommend you apply for a Business Visitor visa.

  • to negotiate contracts or discuss sponsorship;
  • to perform at auditions only and you are not being paid to do so;
  • to make personal appearances and promotions (for example, TV Chat Shows or interviews)

Work Permit
If you do not fall within an Entertainers Visa or Business Visitor visa category for example if you are coming to the UK to perform for more than 6 months, then you will require a work permit. To find out more about work permits click here.
